South Central Railway organized a Blood Donation Camp on 28th September, 2022 at Central Railway Hospital, Lallaguda. Shri Arun Kumar Jain, General Manager (In-Charge) was the Chief Guest o­n the occasion and inaugurated the camp in the presence of Dr. Dora Rama Rao, Principal Chief Medical Director, SCR, Dr. M.D Naik, Medical Director, other senior Railway officials, staff members and representatives from South Central Railway Women’s Welfare Organization. o­n the occasion, the General Manager also released a booklet o­n the importance of Blood Donation.

The Blood Donation Camp was organized as part of the National Voluntary Blood Donation Drive undertaken by the Ministry of Railways with regard to Raktadan Amrit Mahotsav program from 17th September to 01st October, 2022. The objective of the camp is to spread awareness o­n the importance of blood in the society and encourage voluntary blood donation to save lives. The blood donation drive will culminate o­n 01st October, 2022 which is also the National Voluntary Blood Donation Day.

At the Central Railway Hospital, a total of 60 volunteers from various Railway departments of SCR donated blood. The blood donation drive helps in providing timely access to safe blood products and safe blood transfusion. Any healthy adult between the ages of 18 and 60 can donate blood. South Central Railway further aims to organize blood donation camps in centres of public assembly such as Railway offices, workshops, training centres and other Railway establishments to actively encourage voluntary blood donation and provide safe blood at an affordable cost to those in need.

Speaking o­n the occasion, Shri Arun Kumar Jain appreciated the Medical Department of SCR for undertaking this noble initiative. He stated that Blood is the most precious gift that o­ne can give to another and encouraged all the eligible officials and staff members to donate blood. He also complimented all the volunteers for coming forward and stated that o­ne blood donation can help save upto 3 lives.

As part of the National Voluntary Blood Donation Drive, a Blood Donation camp was also organized at Kacheguda Health Unit, wherein, 44 Railway beneficiaries donated blood and a total of 44 double blood bags were collected under aseptic conditions.
