Making South Eastern Railway a "Zero Scrap" Railway is one of the mission areas of this zone. Necessary steps are being taken by all the Divisions and Workshops to realise value from sale of unserviceable materials.

South Eastern Railway has reached the milestone of Rs.300 crore Scrap sale figure on 30th November, 2023 during the current financial year. The total earnings from scrap sale is Rs. 308.73 crore. This sale figure is 25.16% higher than proportionate target of Rs. 246.66 crore till the end of November 2023.

This has been achieved through the sale of various kinds of scrap which includes scrap rails, condemned locos, wagons & coaches, miscellaneous ferrous and non-ferrous materials, track machines, abandoned masonry structures etc.
