MOBILE UTS FACILITY INRODUCED AT KAKDWIP AND NAMKHANA RAILWAY STATIONS DURING GANGA SAGAR MELA-2024

Shri Milind K Deouskar, General Manager/Eastern Railway, minutely inspected the UTS (Unreserved Ticketing Service) facilities introduced at Kakdwip and Namkhana stations for the convenience of the pilgrims of Ganga Sagar Mela on 11.01.2024. Following a thorough examination, the GM was highly impressed and expressed his satisfaction for the efforts of Sealdah Division.

With an aim to provide enhanced unreserved ticketing facility to pilgrims and to cater to a large number of passengers travelling to Ganga Sagar, Eastern Railway has come up with another innovative ticketing method, which is a first for this Zone. While the number of Railway Booking counters having conventional system of providing unreserved tickets have been increased at Sealdah, Kolkata, Kakdwip and Namkhana stations, a new age portable ticketing arrangement has been made this year with the launch of Mobile UTS.

In the existing system of ticketing, passenger have queue up in front of booking counters, whereas Mobile UTS service is portable, compact and versatile in nature and will allow Railways to provide a ‘door step’ delivery of tickets. Railway staffs will carry these handheld ticketing devices to passenger enclosures around station area and provide instant, on-spot tickets. This service is expected to not only reduce the queue length but will also ensure that elderly senior citizens get their ticket without having to standing in queues. A total of six such devices have been provided and staffs have been imparted necessary training to provide the new age hassle free on-demand on-spot ticketing to passengers.
